Notes

Stereo soundboard > Zoom H2 @16/44.1 > SDHC memory Card > PC
edited and tracked with wavepad
flac level 8 and checksums with traderslittlehelper

Note: Although I believe my record levels to be correct, something upstream
was overdriven, yielding a result that sounds clipped, compressed and crunchy,
mostly on the vocals. Equipment issues on stage (loose connections?) also
can be heard in the later parts of both sets.
Although a stereo board, there is very little seperation between channels.

Subject: thanks for the tip
Brooks, thanks for the tip, while I think my record level was correct, (note that I boosted levels in the mastering process), there was something askew. Sound in the hall was good, leaving me scratching my head. I do have an inline headphone volume pot, and I'll try that if I'm every given a like opportunity. I use the same Zoom H2 for analog transfers, with my record volume set to ain the range of "90". At this show I had to bring my setting down to "70". Next time I'l preset record level at "90" and use the phone pot to acheive correct levels on the meter, does that sound right?

Subject: NOTES FOR RECORDING WITH H2 ZOOM
WHEN RECORDING WITH THE H2 ZOOM FROM THE SOUND BOARD THE INPUT IMPEDANCE OF THE H2 ZOOM IS VERY SENSITIVE AND CAUSE THESE KIND OF RECORDING LEVELS AT THE END RESULT. YOU HAVE TO ATTENUATE THE INPUT WITH A HEADPHONE POTENTIOMETER OR A HEADPHONE VOLUME POT. THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO TURN DOWN THE OVERDRIVEN INPUT GOING INTO THE H2 ZOOM, THIS WILL CURE YOUR INPUT ISSUES WITH THIS RECORDER .
